Hot & Iced Morning Mocha (in English and Spanish)

I must admit: coffee scares me.

I've shied away from the idea of caffeine for as long as I can remember. I don't like to hear others say they can only function in the morning once they've had their coffee. I never wanted to see myself in that position- forced to drink a certain beverage every day or I'll face the wrath of fatigue and headaches.

Even though I am typically a "morning person," being in high school drains ever bit of morning energy that I may have. I keep finding myself battling to keep my eyelids open in the early hours of the day. I have also started drinking coffee on many afternoons when my energy is all but gone (thanks, homework!!).

In English:

Morning Mocha
(makes a drink for one person)

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup vegan milk, heated (I especially like to use vanilla almond milk or unsweetened coconut milk.)
  • 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon of cane sugar
  • 1-2 shots of espresso

Directions:
  1. Heat up the milk, and stir in the cocoa and the sugar very well.
  2. Pour in the espresso and stir well.
  3. For iced mocha: pour the hot beverage over ice. Enjoy!

En Español:

Moca para la mañana
(hace una bebida para una persona)

Ingredientes:

I have updated my older recipe for my original vegan Café Mocha and changed the pictures. My dad was cool enough to lend a fancy shmancy camera of his to take some better-looking pictures. What do you think?

Don't forget to tell us about how your mocha was- we'd love to hear your comments and see your pictures!

I'm Felicity, college junior who thinks about cooking vegan foods a lot more often than I actually cook (which is pretty much never because it's either a dining hall or microwave noodles for me).
