When we feel hungry, our bodies are saying, "Hey! I'm out of energy and nutrients. Bring me some more!!" Fueling our hunger with chips or brownies solves the short-term problem of hunger, but doesn't provide the nutrients our bodies are begging for.
Maybe you're thinking, "Duh, Felicity!" Don't worry- I'm thinking the same thing. See I know that food is ideally supposed to heal us, but I get so occupied with other things in my life that I forget. I start to see the process of eating as a chore. That's when bad things happen: I will eat half of a chocolate bar for a snack, or I will suck on a spoonful of peanut butter for breakfast. While these kinds of meals sound quick and yummy, they do very little for my body other than making me less hungry.
I propose that we (especially myself) pay more attention to what we put in our mouths. Everything we eat ought to heal us and nourish our bodies.
Buen provecho, my friends!

"¡Buen provecho!"
It is the Spanish equivalent of bon appetit, but it has a slightly different translation. Literally, buen provecho means 'good benefit'. If you walk up to a person eating in a Spanish-speaking country, you'll tell them "been provecho," which is essentially the same as wishing that the food their eating nourishes and heals their body.
I love this phrase. It reminds me that the food I am about to eat serves to heal my body with the nutrition and energy it needs. Food isn't supposed to be beautiful and shouldn't be solely pleasurable. It is supposed to nourish our bodies and help us get the most out of life.
